Hargy International School has a proud legacy that began in 1979 with the establishment of Bialla International Primary School (BIPS). Originally founded as a small composite class offering education from Pre-School to Year 6. As the school community expanded, so too did its educational program, eventually extending to Year 8. Students completing Year 8 were then supported by the company to continue their secondary education elsewhere within the province.
For more than four decades, from 1979 to 2020, the school operated under the name Bialla International Primary School. In 2020, reflecting both its growth and broader educational vision, the school officially adopted the name Hargy International School (HIS).
A major milestone in the school’s development was achieved in 2022 with the completion of purpose-built high school facilities. These new buildings, along with the upgraded school grounds, were officially opened in 2023 by representatives of SIPEF, marking the beginning of an exciting new era for the school. The same year also saw the arrival of the school’s inaugural Year 12 cohort.
In 2025, Hargy International School received accreditation from the ACT Department of Education to deliver the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Senior Secondary Curriculum for Years 11 and 12. This accreditation enables students to attain an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank), providing pathways to universities in Australia and internationally. Delivery of the ACT curriculum officially commenced in January 2026.
Today, Hargy International School stands as a dynamic and forward-looking educational institution, committed to academic excellence and the holistic development of its students. Built on a foundation of growth, tradition, cultural diversity, and innovation, HIS continues to prepare young people for success in an ever-changing global world.
